How to make a seating layout and floor plan

  1. Set the room size. Start from the example floor plan or blank, and enter the room’s width and depth under Room size.
  2. Add the furniture. From the Add menu, place round tables, long tables, a head table, rows of chairs or desks, and set the seats at each.
  3. Add the room items. Add a stage, dance floor, bar, buffet, DJ, doors and labelled areas, and drag everything into place.
  4. Check the spacing. Everything is drawn to scale in centimetres, so you can see the walkways between tables and chairs.
  5. Download or seat guests. Download the floor plan as a PDF, PNG or SVG, or add your guests and press Smart arrange.

The plan above is an event room of 24 by 16 metres with a stage, a head table of 10, a dance floor, twelve round tables of 10, a buffet, a bar, a photo booth and the entrance: 130 seats, no guests yet. Press Use this layout to make it yours, or try the banquet and gala examples.

Drawn to scale

Every table and chair keeps its real size: a 60-inch (152 cm) round table of 8, a 72-inch (183 cm) round of 10, an 8-foot (244 cm) long table. Set the room’s width and depth under Room size, and the plan shows whether the tables fit with room to walk. A good rule of thumb is about 6 feet (1.8 m) between tables, edge to edge, so guests can push their chairs back and servers can pass.

Download the floor plan

Print & export gives you a PDF on Letter or A4, a PNG image for messages and slides, and an SVG for designers. Send it to the venue and caterer, or add your guests later: tick the alphabetical list and the table lists, and the same plan prints with names. For a sign at the entrance, use the seating chart sign maker.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make an event floor plan online for free?

Yes. Draw the room, tables and room items here and download the plan as a PDF, PNG or SVG. It’s free, with no sign-up.

Is the floor plan drawn to scale?

Yes. You enter the room’s size in centimetres and every table, chair and item keeps its real size. Venue capacity and fire rules are still for your venue to confirm.

Is there a 3D seating chart?

No. The plan is a top-down 2D drawing, which is what venues, caterers and print shops work from. You can rotate tables and items to any angle.

What furniture and room items can I add?

Round, long, square, head and U-shaped tables, rows of chairs, desks and groups of desks, plus a stage, dance floor, bar, DJ booth, podium, doors, labelled areas and text labels.

Can I seat the guests on the same plan?

Yes. Add your guest list and press Smart arrange, or drag people to seats. The PDF then prints the floor plan with names and an alphabetical list.

Can I make a landscape (horizontal) seating chart?

Yes. A room wider than it is deep prints across the page (landscape) on Letter or A4; a deep room prints upright.
